1/18 Scale Electric Formula One Car:
Kyosho Williams Honda FW-11B - 3177
|
Released by Kyosho circa 1989, the Williams Honda FW-11B Formula One Car - # 3177 - was based on the car driven by Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet and for one race in the season, Riccardo Patrese, in the 1987 F1 Championships. Piquet and Mansell finished first and second respectively in the Drivers Championship, and the Team winning the Constructors Championship.
The unassembled kit came with an unpainted ABS plastic Bodyshell, with Canon Williams Honda Decals, a Le-Mans DM20 Motor, and molded nylon Wheels with Sponge Tires. A Radio System, ESC, Battery and Charger to be purchased separately.
Now considered rare, all the early Kyosho "Formula 1 Racers" series models are much sought after by ardent collectors the world over.
Check out our Kyosho Archive for other F1 models.
The 2WD model is based on an FRP plate chassis, with double wishbone suspension, a gear type differential, coil spring over friction dampers, dogbone drive-shafts and nylon bushings.

Hints, Tips and Information
Bumpsteer
In plain language, Bumpsteer is exactly what it sounds like. If your car goes over a bump, it will affect the toe-in setting and can on some tracks make handling of the car in a straight line difficult. |
Hints, Tips and Information
Toe Angle - for Steering and Straight Line Stability
When you first build your RC model car, you will no doubt have made all the settings advised in the manufacturers' manual and will take it out on the back yard not thinking of things like camber, caster or toe-in - I know I did. It's only when you get competitive that you start learning about these things and just what a big difference they can make to the handling of your car. One of the more effective of these adjustments is Toe-in. |
